We all know there are so many needy organisations in South Africa - why should you choose to support Cansa and the Cansa Relay For Life?

This is why...

Cancer affects one in four South Africans and the cancer burden is growing. Thousands South Africans died of cancer and the tragedy is many of these deaths could be prevented. Cansa is the only national cancer organisation and they have been fighting cancer for 77 years - since 1931.

Cansa Polokwane Relay For Life needs sixty teams to reach their target of two hundred teams!

The Polokwane Relay of 2008 was the biggest Relay ever in Africa with hundred and sixty seven teams taking part. We want to be bigger and stronger this year with the help and support of  the Polokwane community. Teams are busy raising funds in very creative ways such as the Murder Mystery Evening held by Sharon Booth's team. They raised R5300 with that one event!

Naas Vorster and Johan Engelbrecht of Absa Polokwane in their attire for the Cansa Polokwane Relay for Life that will take place on 11 September 2009. We do expect that the weather will force them to wear something a little less revealing. Walking around a rugby field for a whole night is not everyone's cup of cake but these two are part of a number of Absa teams that will participate for this good cause.

The clock is ticking - only 8 weeks to Relay For Life 2009

From Catering to Candles!

We need 10 000 candles for Relay For Life 2009! Candles will be used for Survivors and in the Lumunaria bags. (Photos of Lumunaria bags on our Facebook page - http://cli.gs/YzZvyA). Eileen Schofield is running a campaign with schools to get candles donated. Absa staff is collecting candles all over the province. Absa Thohoyandou was the first to confirm their donation. If you want to be part of this project, please contact Eileen Schofield on 082 445 8069 or vicplace@lantic.net.
