NicP PCOB INFO FOR PEOPLE AFFECTED BY CLOSING OF ROADS 2010 · read more »

We have had many phone calls and questions around the road closures for the 2010 World cup Soccer. The information attached has been obtained directly from the person responsible for this, Ingrid Blignaut.

Non match days will only see partial road closures which should not negatively affect any businesses and this concession has made the process a lot easier.

On match days our advice will be to arrange your visits/appointments out of the office as the area will be filled with match goers and their transport ie. Busses and taxi’s. I think the inconvenience has been minimised to accomodate businesses and residential properties and we are certainly happy about this.

Please find attached:

1. The application form for your Vehicle access Permit should your business or residence fall within the road closures.

2. The full info pack for Access, Transport and general info.

Please note that the road closures will only apply on the match days which are as follows:

Friday 11 June Opening
Sunday 13 June Algeria vs Slovenia 13h30
Thursday 17 June France vs Mexico 20h30
Tuesday 22 June Greece vs Argentina 20h30
Thursday 24 June Paraguay vs NZ 16h00

June 24 will be remembered as the day the USA beat world class soccer act Spain in the Fifa Confederations Cup - 2-0.
A real shocker! I did not even know that the USA had a soccer team!

When the Chinese played 'tsu chu', in which animal-skin balls were dribbled through gaps in a net stretched between two poles as far back as 255BC, the last thing they would have expected is that their ball kicking would one day become part of the history of football or as it is known in South Africa, soccer.
