Bolivia Lodge surpassed themselves with the SAVF Wear to Care project that was held in the Limpopo Hall at Bolivia outside Polokwane.
The Parent Care Group of the South African Women's Federation (SAVF) held the day to collect funds for the Martha Hofmeyr Old Age Home in Polokwane that is suffering from a lack of funds, despite a small subsidy from government.
Businesses in Polokwane sponsored more than 50 tables and used the opportunity to entertain their staff and clients and in the process promote a good cause. In the city it was a collection of hats that was probably last seen in the 1920's. People could pay a small fee to enable them to wear any hat of their choice to work. Many businesses sponsored their staff.
The women's breakfast at Bolivia Lodge was an appropriate climax to the Wear to Care project and the standard to which the hall was decorated bore witness to the fact that, if Polokwane cares, they do it in style and with zest.
During the past months, Parent Care Group chairperson, Mariëtte Laas and her colleagues, visited every organisation they were allowed to address and promoted their project. It seems like the effort was well rewarded.
The Wear to Care Project was one of those that makes one proud to be living in this city.
