Cansa Polokwane Relay For Life needs sixty teams to reach their target of two hundred teams!
The Polokwane Relay of 2008 was the biggest Relay ever in Africa with hundred and sixty seven teams taking part. We want to be bigger and stronger this year with the help and support of the Polokwane community. Teams are busy raising funds in very creative ways such as the Murder Mystery Evening held by Sharon Booth's team. They raised R5300 with that one event!
The Jumbo Foods team are busy selling boerewors rolls and already raised close to R11 000. Mitchell House is busy with amazing initiatives and as you can see on the front page on the Northern Review Suid Skool is one of the many schools in Polokwane collecting candles.
Not sure what Relay is all about?
In short - An overnight event taking place on 11 and 12 September 2009 on the sports fields of Pietersburg High School (PHS). Teams of 10 - 15 people register for R500 to take part in the event. Each team is challenged to raise R5000 before and during the event. The purpose of the event is to celebrate life with our survivors, to remember those not with us anymore and to create awareness for Cansa and cancer. For more detail contact the team on relay@mweb.co.za or on 076 374 7200.
Team photos can be seen in all the local newspapers as well as on Facebook .
Lions, Rotary, Round Table and others will sell food at the event as part of their fundraising. Wimpy will sell their famous Wimpy coffee.
Hot Water will be available throughout the night for those who prefer to prepare their own coffee. (No cost)
Final Bank Nigh will take place on the 7th of September 2009 at the Farmyard. More detail to follow.
Do not miss out on this opportunity to share the night with our community all for a very worthy cause.
Please use the "forward e-mail" option at the bottom of this page to forward this information to your friends, colleagues and family.
See you on the track on the 11th!
(Next time more on our record attempt!)
Have a good week.
