NicP OSCAR THE HOUND THAT TRAVELLED THE WORLD, VISITS POLOKWANE · read more »

Joanne Lefson and Oscar the dog of the World Woof Tour to promote the adoption and sterilisation of dogs, touched down at The Pavilion Conference Centre at Sterkloop on Wednesday night.

Oscar, a Corgi, Alsation, Cocker Spaniel, Basset Hound mix-breed has travelled 74000km around the world to promote dog adoption and dog sterilisation. Oscar is the only dog who went around the world during his World Woof tour 2009.

Joanne, Oscar's partner and human voice, told the audience of animal lovers at The Pavilion Conference Centre at Sterkloop that 3000 dogs are euthanised every year in SA due to irresponsible pet ownership. She also said that one dog pregnancy can lead to 67 000 dogs in 6 years. That is the reason why the Woof Tour also promotes the sterilisation of dogs.

The Pedigree Hound Tour 2010 will take Oscar around South Africa in 43 days.

Check them out on the World Woof Tour website and on Facebook

NicP SPCA needs a caravan · read more »

The SPCA needs a used caravan that they can convert into a mobile clinic.

The clinic is needed to accommodate the veterinarian who provides free services for the SPCA in the rural areas.

The SPCA has a tough job in changing the attitudes of people who has, for generations, treated animals in a way that is not acceptable anymore. The SPCA needs to inform and teach people how to treat their animals, especially donkeys and dogs who are left to fend for themselves in the townships.

Call the manager at the SPCA if you can help.

Ongegronde klagtes.

Teen R1000 per skaap is dit nogal 'n duur rantsoen.

Wees gegroet.

Frans van Aardt.
