The Polokwane Chamber of Business (PCOB) met last night for their May business card evening at the new factory of Ghiordes, the manufacturers of solid wood products.

As you can see form the picture, Ghiordes really made it a night to remember for the PCOB members.
PCOB chairman, Mokone du Preez, called on members as well as all citizens of Polokwane not to give money to the increasing number of street kids on the street corners of the city. Du Preez reiterated the concern that most people have, namely that the children do not buy food but rather spend the money on glue and dagga.
Du Preez then read a number of newspaper and magazine articles that reflected how well things are going in South Africa despite the recession.
He encouraged members to focus on their businesses and to stay positive, because the economy will recover in the not too distant future.
Snr Supt Sylvia Ledwaba, Head of the SAPS Detective Unit in Polokwane, also addressed the meeting. Read what she said in Crime Crier.
Johan le Roux of Ghiordes welcomed the guests and talked shortly about his dream that came true with the new factory.
In a positive spirit of benefit to the country, Ghiordes train and promote internally with at least three employees trained and promoted from unskilled labourers to skilled labourers and operators.
Members used the opportunity to network and exchange business cards and enjoyed the cheese and biscuit platters with good wine.
