Big Spinn takes place in August at the Genl Piet Joubert School in Polokwane.

From 08:00 till 18:00 on Saturday 29 August, fifty teams of ten members each will take part in the most gruelling fitness and fun test of the year – Big Spinn 2009!

Big Spinn is a community event to collect funds for worthy causes and is again organised and presented by Milestone Events and Training, well-known for the charity fundraisers they organise and present in Polokwane.

The Foundation for Learning of the Pietersburg Laerskool is the organisation that will benefit from the Big Spinn. The Kydz Inc project will receive a percentage of the money collected for the celebrity cycle that will be placed in the middle of the front row on the day. Twenty business personalities from the city will sweat for charity!

Each contestant will receive a certificate, sponsored by Gestetner, for their one hour long efforts. Activity Zone will provide the spinning cycles and qualified instructors will ensure that each team member will get his monies worth on the spinning cycle.

The sport fields of Genl Piet Joubert School was selected as the ideal venue for the event this year as it will be possible to include many other activities during the day. Other sporting activities, food stalls and games for the children will be available to add to the fun atmosphere that marks this exciting event.

Teams

The team with the best spirit (war cry), best team branding (attire, etc) and the best A4 size advert on their cycle, will be acknowledged.

Teams have to register at R1 500 per team by emailing Dia van Staden for a registration form, by phoning Laerskool Pietersburg at 015-295 9062 to have a form faxed to them or download a form by clicking on "BigSpinn-reg-form09.pdf" at the bottom.

The completed registration forms must accompany the proof of payment and be faxed to 086 652 7162 on or before Friday 14 August 2009.

Fitness fanatics

The fit and furious individuals that would like to spin for the duration of the marathon (10 hours) must also notify the school as soon as possible.

Fitness Challenge for gyms

Two gymnasiums in Polokwane will each enter two teams for the Fitness Challenge at R50 per person.

A knock-out session will sort the top fitness freaks from the rest when they participate from 09:00 to 11:00. The finals between the two top females and two top males will take place at 17:00. Register with your gym to take part.

Dance Adrenalin

A Dance Adrenalin marathon will start at 09:00 and run till 12:00 for junior dancers.

From 13:00, dancers older than12 can show their moves.

Entry fee for dancers is R50 per person for their marathon.

A different dance instructor will show the moves every hour. A display of dance will take place between 12:00 and 13:00 in the school hall of Laerskool Pietersburg.

Netball & Korfbal Classic

Mixed teams of eight persons can enter for the netball or korfball classic that will take place from 09:00 to 17:00.

Entry fee is R50 per person for the day. Matches will be played ten minutes a side and IFNA rules will apply. For the rusted players it will help that they may step, but not gain ground during play.
