NicP Vodacom donates mobile clinic to SA National Blood Service Polokwane · read more »

The Vodacom Foundation donated a mobile clinic to the SA National Blood Service (SANBS)in Polokwane last week.

The clinic will be used to reach rural areas previously not serviced by SANBS and is able to collect 30 units of blood per day. Limpopo does not provide enough blood for its own demand and the mobile clinic will enhance SANBS's ability to increase the units collected.

It remains one of the great fears of local SANBS staff that they will not be able to deliver blood when it is required to save the life of a child. Many of the SANBS staff are mothers who can relate to such a predicament and the staff use every opportunity to collect blood.

The mobile unite was immediately put to good use when it visited Mankweng for a donor clinic.

Mr J Dlamini, Executive member of Vodacom, handed the clinic over to Sister Marilda van Wyk, Zone Donor Manager of SANBS.

The sound quality of the video is unfortunately not very good but listen carefully or turn up your speakers.
