2010 Visitor's Information Centre opens in Polokwane

Dignatories prepare for cutting of the ribbon at the opening of the 2010 visitor's centre in Polokwane

Pitsi Moloto, MEC of the Limpopo Department of Eonomic Development, Environment and Tourism, Premier Cassel Matale, Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Marthinus van Schalkwyk, Manoko Makgabo of Noorderland, Polokwane mayor Thabo Makunyane and CEO of Limpopo Tourism and Parks, Benny Boshielo, prepare for the cutting of the ribbon to open the 2010 visitor's information centre next to the Jack Botes Hall in Church Street, Polokwane on Friday.

We will post more information about the centre on the 2010 group of MyPolokwane later in the week. Noorderland was the only school represented at the opening and the minister invited the group of learners to share the cutting of the ribbon with him.

The information centre was erected by the Department of Tourism and Environmental Affairs at a cost of R8,2m to serve visitors to Polokwane during the 2010 World Cup. The minister said 10 000 000 tourists will visit South Africa in 2010 of which 450 000 will visit to watch the 2010 World Cup finals.
